Your Story Changes Here

You know that feeling when you’ve been telling yourself the same things for so long you forget they’re just thoughts, not facts? I’m too much. I’m not enough. This is just how I am — broken. Nothing will change.

Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Known.

Those beliefs feel true because they’ve gone unchallenged. But the way you’ve been surviving — the defenses, the patterns, what you built to get through hard things and keep yourself safe, might not be serving you anymore. You deserve more than just getting by. More than managing. More than suffering.

Therapy is where we create the opportunity for something new. We examine what brought you here, where it came from, and whether it still fits who you want to be. Old wounds can heal here, and become a source of strength. The way things have been doesn’t have to be the way they will stay — you’re finally in a space where change is possible. I work with people across all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. You are welcome here.

“I decided that the single most subversive, revolutionary thing I could
do was to show up for my life and not be ashamed.”
— Anne Lamott

About Me

I’m Karen Wunder, Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience walking alongside people through some of the most challenging and transformative moments of their lives. I am an advocate and ally, and I believe in your capacity to heal and grow — even if you can’t see it yet. I’m so glad you’re here.

My Specialties

Trauma

Unresolved trauma has a way of showing up in your life in unwelcome ways — anxiety, shame, difficulty trusting others, feeling disconnected from yourself. The work begins with reframing old beliefs about yourself and finding more compassionate ways to understand what happened and heal from it.

Eating Disorder Recovery

Whether you’re just beginning to question your relationship with food or are in recovery, the work isn’t just about stopping behaviors — it’s about understanding what they have been protecting you from and building a life where you don’t need them anymore.

Alcohol & Substance Use

You don’t have to hit a crisis point to ask yourself if something needs to change. Sometimes it begins with wondering if the drinking or using has become the way you cope, unwind, or get through hard moments. The work is about looking honestly at that pattern and figuring out what’s underneath it.

Relationships & Boundaries

Many people come to this work noticing the same patterns showing up across different relationships. We explore where these patterns came from, as past experiences often influence how you show up today. Identifying what you need and learning to set boundaries that support you is an important part of the work.

Navigating Change

Life doesn’t always change gradually, and sometimes it shifts in ways that you might not welcome. Whether it’s a career change, the ending of a relationship, becoming a parent or empty-nester, the goal is to move through this time with resilience. I help you find your footing in these new roles and learn to anticipate what’s possible.

Authenticity & Identity

For some people, it starts as an uncomfortable feeling that maybe the life they’re living doesn’t reflect who they are on the inside. This work is about peeling back the layers of “should” and discovering what you actually want, need, and value. Building the courage to live in alignment is an important part of this process.

My Approach

Therapy with me is a conversation, not a protocol. I am curious about you and your story — and hopeful about what could be next. I believe more is possible than you might be able to see yet. If you’re curious about what that could look like, I’d love to tell you more.
