Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a consultation before starting therapy?
Yes — I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. It’s a chance to connect, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can reach me by phone at 678-252-9883 or by email at karen@karenwunderlpc.com. I respond within 48 hours.
Where are you located, and do you offer telehealth?
My office is located at 11285 Elkins Road, Suite J3, Roswell, Georgia 30076. I also offer telehealth sessions, conducted through a HIPAA-compliant client portal.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially early in the work when we’re building rapport and trust. Frequency can shift as needed according to your progress and preference.
How long will I be in therapy?
That depends on what you’re working on and how you’re paying. If you’re using insurance, continued coverage typically requires that therapy be deemed medically necessary, which is something we’ll navigate together. If you’re paying privately, you can continue for as long as the work feels valuable to you. Either way, we check in along the way — and the pace is yours to set.
What are your rates, and do you accept insurance?
My rate is $140 per session for private pay. I am in-network with Anthem, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If I am out-of-network with your insurance plan, I can provide you with a superbill, which you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Contact your insurer directly to understand your coverage before we begin.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that schedules change. I ask that you let me know at least 24 hours before your session if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, as well as no-shows, are subject to a cancellation fee. Open communication about your scheduling needs is appreciated.
Who do you work with?
I offer individual therapy for adults and teens (14+).
What are your specialties?
I work across a range of concerns including trauma, relationships, life transitions, and identity. You can find a full description of my specialties here. If you’re not sure whether any of them apply to you, reach out anyway — most people come in with a general sense that something needs to change. We’ll figure out the focus together.
What does a first session look like?
The first session is about getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about what’s brought you to therapy, what’s been difficult, and what you’re hoping for. You don’t need to have it all figured out — just come as you are.
Do you assign homework or exercises between sessions?
Not usually, since this is talk therapy, not a structured skills program. If we determine that an activity such as journaling would support processing between sessions, that will be suggested.
I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help.
I want to understand what that experience was like for you. It may have meant that it wasn’t the right fit, or the timing wasn’t right, or the approach wasn’t what you needed. We can work together to figure out the best path forward.
I’m not sure I’m ready.
A consultation costs nothing and does not require a commitment. Sometimes reaching out is what gets you ready.
Will what I share stay private?
What you share stays between us, with limited legal exceptions. I will explain those exceptions fully before we begin.
